Music. A form of expression. A universal language. When one does not have the words to express themselves, there is a melody, harmony, or symphony to do so.

I was born and raised in music. The faint memories of my dad playing the guitar or piano as I would fall asleep on the couch… The excitement when my favorite artist released a new record… The nights when I would lie awake in bed… The late-night drives with the windows down, around my small town… Through sad times, through happy times, through struggles, I always find myself relying on one thing without fail… something I trust in this world, knowing it will never leave me… its reassuring, its comforting, its my form of self expression… music.

Ghostly Appearance

It was windy outside, so I bundled up inside my furry coat. Before I left, I purposely left my purse in the classroom. I wanted to test a specific theory.  In NY, sometimes, appearance is everything. going to school on the Upper East Side, I rarely see a person without some sort of bag/purse. Whether it is designer or just a generic branded accessory it can make a difference when being viewed in the city, especially when it comes to shopping.

I decided to perform my experiment at Anthropologie. I’d say this was a pretty good store to shop in considering it’s the perfect amount of “boujee & bohemian.”  It wasn’t particularly sunny, but i decided to wear my sunglasses while entering the store along with my hands in my pockets. Typically when you go shopping in a store, you are greeted, maybe asked “how can i help you today?”, but this time when i entered i felt almost ghostly.  I always wondered if your appearance REALLY mattered on how much attention you’d get in a store, but as i looked around it did. The ladies dressed “wealthier” and with purses, were all being assisted. It is astonishing how one minor detail can make you feel invisible in this grand city.  “never judge a book by its cover”
